Here's your five points for tonight at DMR: 25DD22

Pampers Gifts to Grow: 10 points

So I was giving my son a hug goodnight tonight when he accidentally kneed me in the nose as I was bending over, causing me to jerk my head up and bang it on the underside of the lower bunk of his bunk beds.

DMR: 5 points

I've finally hit big-time!  After years of struggle and toil, I've gotten my blog to the point where I'm actually getting spam comments on the blog.  I'd like to thank my dedicated fan base and the anonymous spammer who somehow landed on my site.

Oh, and you can get 5 points at DMR for entering code 25DWED.

Out of Office until Monday

I'm going to be OoO for the next few days.  It seems like my brother just turned four yesterday, but he's getting married this weekend, so the blog is on hold for a couple of days.  Catch you all on Monday!

By the way, today's Disney code is 25DFUN.  The codes are highly googleable.

Disney Movie Rewards: Five points and then some...

Check your email for your monthly newsletter from Disney.  I got nine points today.  Whoo-hoo!  Also, the daily code for the day is DONALD.  Five more points there.

Stouffers: Wrap it up!

I got a reminder email that the Stouffers program is ending at the end of this month.  It was never a great program, but since my kids occasionally ate their Mac and Cheese, it cost me nothing.  If you have points, be sure to use them.

Pampers Gifts to Grow: 15 points

Okay, I've been a bit lazy over the past week, but I have a good reason: I'm lazy.

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 150 points

I got a "Cyber Monday" redemption offer from Kellogg's today.  It was for a bunch of items that I really didn't want for free, so I'm not sure that does too much good.  But here's more points to get stuff you don't really want.

My Coke Rewards: Double points through 12/28

Cool, another double points promo.  Get double points on Coke, Diet Coke and Coke Zero 12-packs through 12/28.

27 items at CVS for $.13 (total)

It's that time of year again, when turkeys hide and people shop.  And for those willing to go to the drugstore a couple of times this week, it's time to save some big bucks on a ton of useful (and not so useful) items.
Every year around Thanksgiving, CVS puts out a ton of goodies that are free after extrabucks (EB going forward), CVS's in-house reward currency.  And every year around Thanksgiving, I go through the circulars to determine how to get the most items for the least amount of money.  Hey, everyone needs a hobby.
What makes EB special is that the rebate prints off on the bottom of your receipt, so you can use it immediately to buy something else.  And buy lots of something elses, you will.  if you don't need every item, give it to a friend or shelter.  The tax write-off will more than make up for your slim out-of-pocket costs.
Here's how it works: You find the most expensive item that is "free after EB."  The price of that item becomes the target price, and your goal will be to gather groups of items to get as close to that target price as possible.  Sound complicated?  It isn't.  I'll walk you through it.
The only wrinkle that CVS threw into the specials this year is that they split the goodies.  Several free after EB items are only on sale through tomorrow night, while the rest are only on sale between Thursday and Saturday.  No matter, we can work through it.  Here's how it works:
Wednesday
  • Go into the store and grab a circular, so you know what the items look like.  We're starting with the sale that ends tomorrow night.  The highest priced item is the Tricalm hydrogel, at $9.99.  That's our new target price.  You can get two per CVS card, so buy one at $9.99 and you'll get $9.99 in EB printed on your receipt.  Use those EB to buy a second Tricalm and get another $9.99.
  • Your goal now is to find a group of items that get as close as possible to $9.99 without going over.  If you don't use all your EB, you don't get anything back, but you also don't want to spend any more out of pocket.  It's the game that counts.  For your second round, buy the Green Giant vegetables (one at $.99), Kraft Mac and Cheese ($.99), Sour Patch gum ($1.57), Snickers/Twix/M&M's ($.79), Viatminwater ($1.50), Combos ($1.50), Swedish Fish/Sour Patch Kids theater box ($1.67) and Advil ($.99).  Your total will be $10.  Okay, we're a penny out of pocket, so you could always do this one first and the Tricalms second.  You now have EB totaling $10 (or $9.99).
  • Round 3: Buy the Rescue Gum ($5.79), Total Detergent ($1.79), Starbucks Double Shot ($1.50) and KitKat/Reese's/Hershey's Bar ($.79).  The total is $9.87, so we wasted $.12, but we'll survive.
  • Round 4: Buy everything else, including a second Green Giant (two per card), the Wrigley's Gum ($1.00), CVS wipes ($.99), Migralex ($.99), Training pants ($.99), pantiliners ($.99) and two Robitussins ($1.49 each, two per card).  Uh oh, only a total of $8.93, meaning that you have $1.04 in wasted EB.  Alas, you'll have to buy something else that doesn't give you back EB.  Or, you can do the following:
  • In Round 4, replace one of the $2 items (or $1.99, in our case) with the Colgate toothpaste, which is $2.99.  Assuming you can find the $.50 in your paper or online, which you should be able to, the cost is now $2.49, which you'll get back in EB.  That will save you the $1 difference and bring your Round 4 total to $9.93.  If you do this transaction as Round 3 (using a $9.99 EB coupon from Round 2) and move Round 2 down to Round 3 (using your $9.93 in EB for the $9.87 in purchases), you'll be out no money.
Thursday through Saturday
  • You now have $9.87 in EB for the end-of-the-week sale items.  There's only a few, including a toothbrush ($2.00, to go along with your free toothpaste), Viva paper towels ($1.99), Orbit gum ($1.00), another Reese's/Hershey's/KitKat ($.79) and batteries ($4.19).  Total $9.97, so you're out of pocket a dime.
  • What you started off with: $10.  What you ended with: 27 items and $9.97 in extrabucks.  Total out-of-pocket is $.13, which is the dime from the last transaction and the three cent difference between your ending extrabucks and your original $10.
Hints
  • Don't be afraid to ask for substitutions if they are out of an item.  My CVS was out of the Swedish Fish/Sour Patch Kids item, so I asked and they substituted Mike and Ikes.
  • Be flexible: Sometimes the store is out of an item, never got an item or won't substitute a new item in.  At that point, you need to play with your list a bit and move things around.  That's why we start with the highest priced item: it's a lot easier to be flexible with 10 $1.00 items than it is with one $10 item.
  • Get all your items at once, but separate them into different baskets.
  • Use the self-checkout.  You can take all the time you need.  And if you need help, call an associate in.  The employees know the drill and are happy to help, since they all find the whole thing a bit amusing.
  • Have fun!

Treasure Trooper: Cash for surveys, other easy stuff

I can never remember if I have brought up Treasure Trooper before, so I'm doing it now, with a chance for you to earn unlimited, millions of, mucho, well, a fair amount of dollars, anyway.  I'm at just under $2,000 after a few years, but I don't do very much with it.  Note: I get twenty percent of my direct referrals' earnings (from the site, not my referrals) but I'll give you back anything you earn in December or January, as long as it is at least $1 in referral earnings.  You get $5 to sign up for free.

TT is a "get paid to (GPT)" site, that gives you money for doing surveys, filling out forms for marketers, etc.  It's a dollar here, two dollars there, but it will eventually add up.  Most of the "fill out the form" or "download the app" offers take only a minute and I delete anything I don't want (Goodbye, Kim Kardashian app!).  A few hints:

  • Clear your cookies before you do each offer.  It helps tracking.
  • Use a free voicemail service like Laser Voicemail to create a phone number.  That way, you can have a valid phone number that you never listen to.
  • Create an alternate (or three) email accounts so you don't get tons of spam in your regular account.
The other nice thing is that there are a bunch of "games within the game," including a treasure hunt and a "build your own dragon" game.  Enjoy.  You can sign up here.

12-packs of Coke 30 points at MCR: good until it isn't

Go here.  It's one per account, so be sure to use up all the accounts.

How frustrating.  I was stuck on a train when the email came through.  Then the train went out of service.  Then the next train went out of service.  Then I got a PM from a reader alerting me to the deal.  Then, I finally got on the train but had to walk home through the rain and, well, you're not reading anymore, are you?

New site like Ibotta or Checkout 51; cash for purchasing groceries

I have no idea how to describe these sites, so let's just say they give you a shopping list and you get cash back if you buy any of the items and take a picture of the receipt.  Really, it's easier than it sounds.

Note: The sign-up link below earns me $1.  Yes, a whole dollar!  If you use it, it would make me happy.

Snap by Groupon is better than Ibotta and as good as Checkout 51.  There are 42 items on the list this year, including a lot of unbranded options (e.g., You get $1 cash back for buying any gallon of milk, $1 for any bag of candy, $.25 for kale, $.50 for toothpaste and $.50 for apples.).  There's also cash back for certain branded products, such as $2.00 back for Huggies wipes or $1.00 for Barilla pasta.  Added bonus:You can do some offers more than once.

Since many of these products advertise on different sites, there is a good chance that they will be on more than one site and you can double or even triple your rebate on the same product.

On Credit Card Deals...

I made a conscious decision a while ago to take only minimal steps to monetize this blog.  While I do get some revenues from Google Adsense clicks and the occasional program referral, the money is truly minimal (averaging under $10 per year).  This site is a hobby for me.  I get to be snarky and write whatever I want, while finding free points for items that I may never use anyway.  It's all part of the fun for me, and I love it.  Once I start trying to generate revenue on a constant basis, it becomes work.  Remember when you were forced to read a book for school?  Kind of took away from the enjoyment, didn't it?

Great books that we read in school that are so much more fun when they're not assigned: The Good Earth, The Westing Game.

Having said all of the above, I am not immune to the siren song of credit card affiliate links, either.  To that end, I have teamed with creditcards.com to offer credit cards at my other site, frequentflyermiles101.com, a site for novices to frequent flyer programs (i.e., if you have >100 posts at Flyertalk, this site may be too basic for you.).  It's a third-party site, so I don't make as much as the big guys do, but it's something.

The link to my credit card affiliate site is here.  If you are considering any cards, I'd be grateful if you'd take a look there.  There are different banners for different types of cards.

And that's it.  That will be the last mention of this affiliate site here and any future references to credit cards will be entirely incidental.  Since I started this blog in 2011, I have had nine posts that mentioned the words "credit card," and I'm guessing that will be about the same number going forward.

Thank you again for taking the time not only to read today's missive but this blog in general.  It's nice to know that something I write is actually getting read.

Mobee Question: How did your sign-up go?

In this thread, I mentioned the 600 point sign-up for Mobee if you used my referral code, BKLZ.  I do not believe those points are crediting correctly for either the sign-ups or myself.

If you signed up, could you please leave a comment below telling me:

1) Your bee number or user name
2) If you got 300 or 600 points after your first mission
3) If you used the referral code (If you didn't, that's totally fine, I'm just trying to track it for the folks at Mobee to find out what's going on.).

Thanks!
Mike

Mobee ups join bonus to 600 points ($6)

For those of you who haven't been exposed to Mobee yet, now's the time, since, for an undetermined time, they're giving you (and me) $6 after you complete your first mission.  Mobee is in most metropolitan areas now, after having launched in Boston.

Here's how it works: They'll give you a list of shops, restaurants, etc. in your area that offer missions.  Each mission is worth a certain amount of points; I've seen them as low as 50 points (rare) and as high as 2,000 points (rare).  Most are in the 300-800 point range.  Generally, it is a series of yes/no questions about customer service at the location.  For the higher point value missions, you may have to buy something, but it's usually something that costs a lot less than the value of the mission.

I currently have just over 76,000 points, which translates to $760.  Some of that value is offset by purchases I have made, but I am well, well ahead.

Here's what to do:
1.  Download the app (Mobee)
2.  When filling out your info, use code BKLZ where it asks who referred you.  We both get 600 points after you complete your first mission.
3.  Check out the stores and missions in your area.  Try the ones with few requirements just to get a feel for it.  You may not get as many points, but it's an easy way to get started.

Monopoly at McDonald's is back on 9/30!

No freebies, I just like that promo.

Due to the Jewish holidays, I may be out for the next couple of days.

Recyclebank: 190 points (more or less)

This month, RB got crafty with their freebies and put a whole bunch of links to different products on one page (instead of a coherent theme).  I went here and clicked on everything that was 25 points or fewer, since I think I had done the other ones.  The best thing to do is copy the link and paste it after completing each task to get back to the main page.  I ended up with 190 points, but your results may vary.

Lean Cuisine to shut down its rewards program 12/31

Like Stouffer's, Lean Cuisine also had a reward program.  I think I even mentioned it once.

And like Stouffer's, it's shutting down at the end of the year.  And that's all.

Kellogg's Family Rewards: Relax, it's Labor Day! 100 points (and possible bonus points)

Well, not anymore, so no more relaxing for you.

On the plus side, you do get KFR points.  Enter code: RELAXITSLABORDAY.

I'm thinking about writing them to talk about the missing apostrophe, but I have better things to do.  Okay, that's a lie.  I don't have better things to do.  But I am lazy, so that email will never get written.

BTW, thanks to reader Theresa for pointing out that, if you enter four codes between 9/2 and 9/4, you'll get 400 bonus points.  When my wife asks, I'll blame all of the open cereal boxes on my kids.

Pampers Gifts to Grow: 15 points

For those of you who are trying to encourage a life of celibacy in your hormonal teenagers, take them to Storyland for a day.  That should do the trick.

And for those of you looking for Pampers GTG points, here's 15:

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 50 points

So I've started drinking green tea.  Add that to the list of foods that have no taste.

While you ponder that thought, head over to KFR and enter code FREEPTSFROMERNIE.  He'll give you 50 points.

Free Redbox code in exchange for your email

This one has been around for a while, but I saw it mentioned again on H4F and, having nothing else to write about, thought I'd throw it out there.

Give Redbox your email and they'll give you a code for one free night of a DVD.  They're seriously going to have to rethink the model of giving out one per email address.  I'm actually not a Redbox user, but I'm sure many others are.

Random thought: Baba O'Riley is one of those songs that you could listen to a hundred times in a row and not get sick of it.

Not bad.  Two codes, 50 points each.  It would be nice if they had some decent prizes, though.  Enter the codes here.

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 100 points

Okay, so I screwed up yesterday's points total, but I'm sure I got this one.  100 points for entering code KFR4COUPONING101.

Added bonus: If you've been hoarding Keebler codes, they're worth 100 points each until 8/25/14.

Thursday, August 14, 2014

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 125 points

Another couple of codes:

100 points: HIMONEYSAVINGMOM
25 points: KELLOGGSBONUSPTS

You don't actually have to use cap locks.  It just looks prettier.  And that first code is sexist.

That's all.

Recyclebank: 60 points

25 points for Let's Do Lunch.  Well, 25 points won't get you lunch, but it will get you 25 points.  Or maybe twenty dollars.  Nope, just 25 points.

25 points for Grilling.  Or reading about grilling.

10 points for water.

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 50 points

This is what I get for not updating the blog on the weekend.  I miss out on codes.  But I eventually find them.  Google is your friend.

KFRSATURDAYBONUS for 50 points.

Pampers Gifts to Grow: 10 tricky points

These ones drive me crazy, but 10 points is 10 points.  No code, just some scrolling.  Click here, scroll to the bottom and click "I've read it."  You're done.

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 50 points

Recyclebank: 150 points

Whew!  They put this month's big points opportunity right on the home page.  But I've got a link for you.  Just click here and thank me later.

Pampers Gifts to Grow: 10 points

The person who sent me an item I won on Listia was kind enough to send me a bonus code for Pampers.  Try REGTRG5E4MPA79W at Pampers GTG.

Listia: Birthday celebration

One of my favorite sites that I don't talk about much is Listia, a way to bid on items without using actual cash (Read the description here.).  Today, they're offering a birthday celebration with bonus credits for credits for completing certain tasks.  One is just clicking on a link to check in (50 credits) and one is finding the Listia banner, which I found on the confirmation page after I bid on something.  That one gave me 1,000 bonus credits.  Note that neither of the bonuses has shown up yet.

Kellogg's: Ridiculous 1,000 point "bonus opportunity" and a collecting strategy

I received an email from KFR offering me 1,000 points for entering five codes from a variety of cookies or crackers products.  The catch (of course there's one) is that you need to enter the codes by Friday, meaning a lot of eating between now and then.  Unlikely.

There is a way to beat these promos, though.  I'm not normally a fan of hoarding reward codes, but for programs like My Coke Rewards or KFR, which frequently offer bonuses for entering codes from one category, it may make sense to keep the codes separate until a bonus appears.  You run the risk of points devaluing or a particular prize going away, but the devaluation will usually be more than made up for by the bonus.  Just a thought.

Recyclebank: 25 points

For once, Recyclebank made a customer-friendly change.  Now, instead of forcing me to hunt for new bonus opportunities, they are putting the new bonuses right on the front page, which means a daily check can be done in seconds.  Here's today's, for 25 points.

Monday, July 21, 2014

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 100 points

Something very unusual happened yesterday: I actually entered a code from a Kellogg's product, not a free code.  It does happen occasionally when your kids go through boxes of cereal like mine do, but I prefer the free codes.  Here are two for KFR:

BACKTOSCHOOL2014
BROOKSTONESWEEPS

50 points apiece.

Friday, July 18, 2014

Pampers Points: 10 points

Whenever you go to GTG's website, it's always worth scrolling down to check for articles that will give you points for reading them.  The article in this link will give you 10 points once you scroll down and click on the "I read it" button.

Top Cash Back: Free "Frozen" Big Golden Book for new members

Note 1: I first saw this deal at hunt4freebies, although it's making its way around the internet
Note 2: You must be a new TCB member to take advantage of it

So if your kids just can't get enough of the Frozen movie, here's a chance to get a book for them.  Just what you always wanted, right?  If you don't like the offer, just let it go.  Let it go, can't hold back anymore..sorry, got distracted there.

Process:

  • Clear your cookies/cache in your browser.  Here's a simple explanation how.
  • Sign up for TopCashback here*.  TCB is a cash back shopping site.  Not my favorite, but good for a free book (and occasional other freebies).
  • Type "book depository" into the search bar along the top.
  • The first offer is the one for the free book.  Buy one copy and nothing else.  Shipping is free.
  • Within 30-60 days, $9.80 will show up in you TCB account.
And that's all.  Congratulations, and enjoy your new book.

*I do not receive any referral bonus if you use my link above.  If you make a future purchase from TCB, however, I could receive a bonus.  Thank you for your consideration.

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 20 points

And we're back!

We'll start off with 20 points at KFR for entering code GETF-UELF-ORSC-HOOL.

Tuesday, July 8, 2014

Pampers Points: 15 points

One of the things that I don't like about GTG is that they don't give me cute codes to use.  Thus, they're tough to memorize, thus, I have to keep flipping back and forth on tabs.  But they're free, so here's 15:

10: FBJULHAP8764O14
5: TWIT87JL6HPY014

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 100 points

I'm not sure how I missed this one, particularly since it was an email, not a tweet, but here's 100 points from KFR.  Code: KFRC-ELEB-RATE-SUSA.

Midweek update: Recyclebank: 150 points

Ah, much better.  Here's the monthly Recyclebank "big bonus."  Click through slideshows here and get 150 points.

Out of Office Notice

Hi all,

I'll be out until July 14.  I will try to check in every few days but internet access might be spotty.  Have a great holiday!

Thursday, July 3, 2014

And now for something completely different...

I've decided not to launch my petition to get Reagan National Airport renamed "Perry the Platypus Airport."  Instead, I'm joining this petition to get it renamed Tim Howard Airport.

But Perry could totally score off of Howard.

Recyclebank: A bunch of points

Recyclebank added a bunch of slide shows and videos to its "Earn" site today.  The problem is, I forgot to copy the links.  So just head here and scroll down.

Stouffers Gifts to Grow: Ending 12/31/14

Well, it had to happen.  Stouffers finally realized that nobody pays a premium for frozen meals and ended their program.  It ends on 12/31/14 and you can earn and use points until then.  I'm not taking chances on prizes running out and ordered my $25 Amazon gift card today.  It's a good program and I'm sorry to see it end.

Pampers Gifts to Grow: 10 points

I've grown a little suspicious of Pampers.  In the past few months, they've given out more codes than in the couple of years prior.  But until they "enhance" their program, I'll continue to take advantage of it.

Use code FBCAN898DAY9814 here.

Monday, June 30, 2014

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 338 points

Visit our friends at KFR and enter the following codes:

HAPPYBDAYAMERICA: 238
THANKYOU100KFANS: 100

MCR: Extra points through Kroger

A reader was kind enough to email me (and then email me again, when it became clear that I didn't know what I was talking about) about a promotion involving Kroger.  Link to My Coke Rewards through this Kroger link and you'll receive an extra ten points for participating 12-packs, up to 30 for the lifetime of the promotion, which is mid-July.  Once per log-in, so you may need to log out and go back in.  Please read the rules on this one, as Coke made it complicated.  Or maybe Kroger did.  Or it was a conspiracy.

Wednesday, June 25, 2014

My Coke Rewards: Double points on zero calorie sodas (6/25 and 6/26)

This deal is actually a pretty good one.  Today and tomorrow, get double points on all of Coke's zero calorie drink 12-packs.  Time to use up those codes you've been hoarding!

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 25 points

I always thought that you magically learned how to barbecue things once you bought a house.  I keep burning the food, though.  Still, here's a cool KFR code: EASYBARBECUEBITE.

Tuesday, June 24, 2014

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 50 points

Today's KFR code is NUTR-ITIO-NINA-BOWL.  Since they're giving me free points, I won't make any comments on the actual nutrition levels of many of their cereals.  Oops, I think I just did.  But Kashi is good.

Monday, June 23, 2014

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 50 points

Whoo-hoo, summer has arrived!  Each night, it will get darker one minute and two seconds earlier than the previous night, meaning my kids will fall asleep one minute and two seconds earlier.  To celebrate the occasion, Kellogg's has been kind enough to offer a 50 point reward code.  FIRS-TDAY-OFSU-MMER.  Enter it here.

Pampers gifts to grow: 15 points

Cool, not one, but two codes!  Five points for TWIT1SUM98CE014 and ten for FB831SUM98C6014.  Enter your codes here.

I wonder why all those numbers in the middle are the same?

Disney Movie Rewards: 10 points

Alas, the last of the DMR codes.  Head here and enter CTSEND for 10 points.

On the plus side, there's a one-hour Phineas and Ferb special tonight, so at least the DMR promo is ending on a good note.

Thursday, June 19, 2014

Disney Movie Rewards: five points

It really feels like a Friday and I'm looking for a fifteen point code.  Alas, it isn't.  But you can still get five points at DMR with code CTSL8R.

100 My Coke Rewards points for joining Rapid Rewards (Southwest Airlines)

The offer has always been 60 in the past and, frankly, I don't know when they changed it.  But it's there and, even if you never fly Southwest, you might as well take advantage of it, since it's free.  Check it out here.

Tuesday, June 17, 2014

Recyclebank: 25 points

Recyclebank can be a pain sometimes, since you often have to search all, over the site to find anything that pays points, and even then, the new offers are infrequent.

Today was much nicer, with this 25 point offer right on the front page.  Enjoy.

Disney Movie Rewards: five points

I wonder whose job it is to come up with these codes.  Some summer intern, perrhaps?  Anyway, go to DMR and enter CTSFZY.

Monday, June 16, 2014

Disney Movie Rewards: five points

It's Grrrrrr-eat!  Actually, it's CTSGR8.  See what I did there?  Last three of code sound like "great."  Oh, never mind.  Just get your points here.

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 50 points

CELEBRATEOURDADS!  No, really.  As much as I believe that it something we should all do, it's also worth 50 points at KFR.

My Coke Rewards: Fuze Fridays

One of my readers was kind enough to point out that I had missed an easy MCR promo.  Until the end of the summer, Fuze 12-packs are worth double points on Fridays.  That's an easy way to pick up some bonus points that don't count against your weekly limit.

Most people look forward to the beginning of the summer, which is the longest day of the year.  I hate it.  My kids refuse to fall asleep until it gets dark, meaning I have kids running into my room screaming, "It's too light out for me to go to sleep!" while I'm trying to watch The Lost Boys, er, Orange is the New Black (Let's see who gets that reference.).  Bring it on, winter solstice!

Pampers Gifts to Grow: 15 points

You know what I found out this weekend?  There's a Phineas and Ferb "exhibit" at Epcot.  What are the chances that I could get away with dumping the kids on my wife so I could go visit my two favorite cartoon characters?  Yeah, I didn't think so, either.

How about 15 Pampers points?  These are the ones I could hunt down over the weekend.  There may be more out there.

TWIT58FA76DY014 for five points
FBTNSK8FA876014 for 10

Disney Movie Rewards: 15 points

Ah, the weekend bonus.  My favorite.  Today's code is CTSWIN.

Top Cash Back: Free crayons and about $3.50 in cash

(This offer was found on Hunt4freebies.)

Here's some quick cash back from TCB and Toys R Us:

  • Sign in to Top Cash Back, a cash back shopping site.  If you are not yet a member, I'd be pleased to refer you and earn $10 if you earn at least $10 on the site.  You can click here.  Thanks!
  • In the search box, type toys r us.  You'll get to an "Exclusive" page.
  • It will give you some pretty easy instructions.  Buy the box of 24 Crayola crayons, and only that, and you'll receive $5.00.  The crayons themselves are $1.49.
  • Put down that you will collect the crayons at your nearest store.  Whether you do or not is up to you.
  • Checkout.  According to TCB, the purchase tracks in an average of 3-4 days.
Enjoy your crayons!

Pampers Gifts to Grow: 10 points

Head over to Pampers and scroll down about one quarter of the way.  Look for the orange box that says "earn extra points for some recommended reading."  Click, scroll and then click the button that says "I read it."  You'll be ten points richer and know more about bike safety (assuming you read the article).

Disney Movie Rewards: 5 points

The code of the day is CTSLZY.

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 20 points

CRAZ-YGOO-DCON-CERT is today's code of the day for 20 points at KFR.  At this rate, I'll get that next Starbucks gift card, well, a very long time from now.

That's pretty much it.

My Coke Rewards: 10 free points from Dunkin' Donuts

Did anyone else know that the first Friday of every June is National Donut Day?  Well, in honor of this occasion, I'm directing you to the sign-up for DD Perks, which will get you 10 MCR points, as well as a free medium beverage.

You can repay me in donuts.

Friday, June 6, 2014

Disney Movie Rewards: 15 points

Double bonus!  Not only is the DMR code worth 15 points but it also features a scene from Phineas and Ferb.  What else could one ask for?

Actually, I do have a question?  What on Earth did I write to make Google Adsense put an ad for Kitty Litter under this post?

Friday Freebie: Free York Peppermint Patties

I try to do a lot of the legwork on my own for the free points, but when it comes to the Friday freebies, I often rely on others.  Today's yummy FF comes to us courtesy of hunt4freebies.com.

Get a free York Peppermint Patty just by signing up for Saving Star, which gives you cool ecoupons.  You can find out more here.

Disney Movie Rewards: Five points

Ya know what I like most about these month-long promotions?  It guarantees me something to write about on the slow days.

Wednesday, June 4, 2014

Treasure Trooper:

So Treasure Trooper isn't exactly a loyalty program.  It's more a "get paid to do stuff, like submit an email address (Don't use your main one! or survey" type site.  In the past several years, I've earned $1,869.04 (give or take) from it.  Please see the full disclosure section at the bottom after reading through the details.

Here's how it works: There is a list of tasks, which range from signing up for a newsletter to trying out a product.  The easiest offers (sign up for a newsletter types) pay the lowest, starting at $.25 and moving up from there.  The highest are the trial offers, and they can run $20+.  There is also a $100 treasure hunt, a game involving dragons and monthly bonuses, as well as a bunch of other stuff that I can't remember.

What I like

  • It's not a scam and it's free to join.  They pay once per month and have never missed a payment.  They get paid by the advertiser and then pay you, so they accrue for it each month.
  • The admin staff is very active, and there is a chat room if you have questions.
  • If you do an offer that requires a trial period, they're easy to cancel if you don't want to keep it.
What I don't like
  • Offers don't always credit.  Nobody knows why.  They tend to credit very, very well when you first get started, though.  See below for helpful hints.
  • There is a cash shopping area, but it doesn't pay very well.  You are much better off at Mr. Rebates or Big Crumbs.
Helpful hints to get offers to approve:

A lot of the offers are put up by the same advertisers, even if it doesn't say so.  Over time, they'll only credit so many offers to the same email address.
  • Don't use your main email address for offers or you will end up with a lot of spam.  Create a few new email addresses and use those.
  • Clear your cookies/cache after each offer.  It takes two seconds to do but will dramatically increase your approval rate.
  • If you do a trial offer, they can often be cancelled online.  Regardless, put a calendar note in your phone (or datebook; we don't discriminate here) to cancel the offer.
Referral Program: Full Disclosure

Yes, I get a referral bonus if you sign up through my link.  It goes two levels deep, so I get a smaller bonus for my referrals' referrals.  This month, there is an added referral bonus contest, so I may benefit more than usual.

And that's all.  Feel free to hit me with questions, etc.

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 70 points

I have no idea why two of these codes are 25 points and the third is 20, but they're free, so what do I care?  They're all over the web, so there may be more out there that I didn't see.  Go to KFR.

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 50 points

Last night, I finally heard those four precious words that ever Daddy wants to hear from his 5-year old daughter: "I'm tired of Frozen."

In honor of that moment, here's 50 points on KFR with code JUST-BECA-USEB-ONUS.

In any case, here's ten points from Pampers, ending the month right.  FB789MEM0ZPR014

Disappearing posts

For some reason, every post that I have written since May 22 has disappeared.  I'm currently investigating the matter and, if necessary, will take it all the way to the head of the interweb.

Stay tuned.

It's been a really lousy day.  First, I got hit with a $150 cash advance fee while trying to MS.  Then, my flight to Philadelphia tonight got cancelled.  And finally, I got charged an extra 35 cents at Potbelly for ordering a Strawberry-Banana smoothie instead of just a Strawberry one.

On the plus side, I did get 25 points for taking a Recyclebank quiz here.

Credit Sesame: Free credit score service (No, really, it's free. I'm serious.)

I'm not a big fan of credit score/protection services when it comes to value.  They always find a way to get a few bucks out of you if you sign up.  I do, however, use Credit Sesame when I feel like getting an update on my score.

Credit Sesame offers your Experian score, which is not the same as the more recognized FICO score but does give you a pretty good indication of where your FICO score is (FICO's model is proprietary.).  The inquiry is a "soft pull," which means that it does not show up on your credit report and will not affect your credit.

Why is it free?  Because they'll try to sell you extras, of course.  Unless you have a burning desire for their other services, you can ignore them.

Bottom line: It's good to have a handle on where your credit score is and why it's there, and CS is a service that will get you most of the way for free.  Note that if you're actually applying for a mortgage, loan, etc., you may be better off paying for the FICO score.  But if you just want to keep an eye on your score, look for trends as you apply for credit cards, etc., Credit Sesame is a good place to start.

Check out the site here.  It may take a second to load.

Note: CS does claim to offer me a small (very small) amount of money if you sign up using this link.  It is much appreciated.  Will they actually pay me something?  Who knows.

Pampers Gifts to Grow: 15 points

I'm loving this Twitter thing.  Another 15 points from Pampers.  Is anyone else tempted to just start typing in random numbers and letters to see if you get any points?

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 1,000 bonus points for five codes before the end of May

Enter five KFR codes before the end of May and get 1,000 points.  Hey, it's better than not getting 1,000 points for entering five codes.  But it is a good reason to hoard your codes until a bonus shows up.

Pampers Gifts to Grow: 25 points

I have no idea why Pampers has all of a sudden gone so points crazy, but who am I to argue?  Head to their site and enter code HSPK9XNEW7OND13.  Then be happy.

Pampers gifts to grow points: 75 points

Cool, a double.  First, head here.  Next, enter code FBHAP99MD11V014 for 10 points.  Then FBJMAY8973TR01 for another 10.  Then, FBJMAY8973TR014 for yet another 10.  But wait, there's more!  Enter 99832MT8MFDEY14 for 25!  Next, enter code FBHAP99MD11V014 for 10 points.  Finally, go here, scroll to the bottom and click "I've read it" for 10 more.

Update: And fortunately, Hunt4Freebies is not as careless as I am, since she noticed that you can get 10 more points by going here, scrolling down and clicking "I read it."

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 225 points

You'll have to excuse my tardiness, but it's been a long weekend.  On the plus side, my kids asked me this weekend if there's a Children's Day, so I got to say, "Every day is children's day!" for the first time.  Almost as good as "because I said so!"

In the meantime, check out KFR and enter the following codes for points:

WELOVEMOTHERSDAY: 100 POINTS
CELEBRATEMOTHERS: 100 POINTS
POPTARTSDOWNLOAD: 25 POINTS

FTD code from MCR

I'm almost embarrassed to mention this one, but freepointsite don't judge.  MCR is offering 15% off FTD flowers for only five points, which is essentially free. Please, don't use this link.  Get miles for your flowers.  Get cash back through a shopping site.  Do something.  But there are lots of other deals out there to be found.

So why do I even mention it?  Well, all the deals can't be good ones.

My Coke Rewards: Double points on Diet Coke 12-packs until 5/11

Diet Coke has apparently changed the design on its 12-packs.  Apparently, the company thinks that a makeover is what it needs to reverse declining sales.  Really, I don't care.  They're offering double points for a few days, so they could use that new Gap logo that looked like it was designed with Photoshop and I'd be happy.

Check your email for your Disney points today

It's been a late month for everyone, including Disney, but I finally got my link to free Disney points in my newsletter.  If you haven't gotten your monthly newsletter yet, check you spam folder.

Pampers Gifts to Grow: 10 points

Welcome back.  Hope you all had a nice weekend.  I got to spend an hour at my daughter's ballet recital.  She was lovely and quite proud of herself, although I'll have to have a little talk with the ballet instructor, since her (assigned) outfit made her look a bit like a Las Vegas showgirl.

Oh, yeah, the Pampers Points code. Here you go: FBJMAY8973CV014.

But it's really a lot more fun to talk about my kids.

Ibotta: Adding online retailers

Ibotta, which is not my favorite bonus site but gets the job done, has added online retailers to its cash-back opportunties.  Each category now has a tab which breaks down online vs in-person, which continues Ibotta's conversion to a general shopping site.

At this point, it is not broad enough to make it a top site, but it continues to improve.  The best use of Ibotta remains combining it with Checkout 51 to buy items that are offering rebates on both sites.

Pampers gifts to grow: 20 points

Yes, today is one of everyone's favorite days of the year: The day when leftover Easter candy goes on sale at 50% off at CVS.  Knock yourself out.

In the meantime, I've got some GTG points for you.  Pampers has a new "read to earn" section where, similar to Recyclebank, you scroll through an article and then click a button.  First article to ignore can be found here, with the second one, which I would have missed without help from hunt4freebies, can be found here.

Of course, you can always find the articles easily by using the link on the front page to articles that pay.  It's about halfway down.
