My Coke Rewards: Free Shutterfly Calendar

Shutterfly is always offering something for free, but this is one that I usually take advantage of. Get a free wall calendar through the MCR partnership. You'll still pay taxes, shipping, handling, etc., but it's a nice keepsake.

Disney Movie Rewards: 25 Days of Christmas is Back!

I missed this promo last year. Each day, Disney will give you a code that is good for five points. The code is only good for the day and there will be one code every day between today and Christmas. You can get the code here, but if you don't feel like clicking, today's code is 25DOCJ0Y.

The CVS Black Friday Game

Every year on Black Friday, the drugstore chain CVS gives out a lot of good stuff for free. Well, almost free. But you have to know where to look.
The freebies come in the form of “extrabucks (EB),” a form of CVS currency usable only at the store. You’ll often see those coupons printed out at the end of the 7-foot receipts that the chain seems to be so fond of. Every so often, you’ll get a “free after purchase,” which is along the lines of “Buy XYZ for $3.00 and we’ll give you $3.00 EB back for a future purchase.” Simple enough.
On Black Friday, you’ll get a ton of those. Do you really need all this stuff? Probably not. But there may be a shelter or charity that does. And it’s fun. You can do it all at a self-service register, so you’ll have nobody looking at you funny.
extrabucks
This year, there are over $54 worth of freebies and it will cost you about $.12 out of pocket. The trick is to use the EB from your previous purchase to make your next one. Continue down the chain until you hit the end. Calculating the best way to do it is a pain, but fortunately, I’ve done the hard work for you.
First, check out the Black Friday Ad. Note that yours may be slightly different. There are just under $55 worth of “free after rebate” items in mine. The magic number is “$11.” By that, I mean that I’m going to match items up so that they total $11 each to maximize the refunds. Here’s how you should order your purchases:
  1. Buy the candy bar, batteries, Green Giant, Glade, wipes, pantiliners and soda. Your total is $11.12
  2. Buy the mascara and toothbrush. Your total is $11. You’re out $.12 here.
  3. Buy the CVS blade, Nicotine gum and Skittles. You may need the cashier to help you here if you have an extra penny. You won’t get the penny back.
  4. Buy one more CVS blade (You can do two in this deal.), the pain relief and Propel.
  5. Finally, buy the leggings, Trolls candy and Ocean Spray. You’ll get $10 worth of EB.
You put $11.12 in, you get $10 back. You also still have a dollar left from step four to spend. So what I would do is buy the $2.00 Cheerios, with a dollar and that remaining dollar from step four. You’ll get a dollar back EB. And now you’re down to $.12 out of pocket.
There is also toothpaste on sale. You can get a $.50 coupon at cvs.com and a $2.50 in-store coupon. The toothpaste costs $3. So that’s one more freebie.

Triple Fanta Points at My Coke Rewards

Today's the day! Triple points for Fanta at My Coke Rewards. That's a good thing. There have been very few double/triple points promos this year, so this one should help out into year end (Ya know, if you buy your holiday presents on MCR.). It's also the reason that I hoard my codes, one of the few programs that I do that for. These occasional promos pay off.

Triple My Coke Rewards points on Halloween with Fanta

Trick or treat? Treat! MCR is offering triple points on Monday for Fanta products. They have not been great about offering multipliers this year, so I'll take what I can get. Remember, bonus points don't count toward the 75 base points that you can earn each week.

My Coke Rewards: Bonuses on Small Products

This is a promotion that even Donald Trump could love. MCR is offering a bonus for those with small hands: Buy one of Coke's "small pack" products and they'll give you bonus points, ranging from 6 - 20, depending on the size you buy. Beverage companies are pushing smaller bottles as a "healthier" alternative to their larger products. Sadly, the same chemicals are in each.

This promotion is kind of a pain in the neck, as well. Not only do you need to buy at a participating retailer but you also have to link your store's loyalty card. If your retailer does not have a loyalty card, tant pis, as the French would say.

And finally, remember this: On a per unit basis, those smaller bottles are way more expensive than their larger brethren.

Possible 800 (more or less) points from Kellogg's Family Rewards

This morning, I received an email from KFR telling me that there was a big bonus waiting for me. Normally, I ignore these emails, since it's usually something like a Shutterfly code. Still, this one had that special something that made me click on it. That was a good idea, since it gave me 800 points (but no Shutterfly code). Interestingly, it worked for both of my KFR accounts (I only monitor the second one for my household, of course.), so I'm thinking that it might be good for everyone. The code is:

SPOO-KYBO-NUS4-U800

Note: Changing the last four letter/number combo doesn't seem to do anything.

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 125 Points

I still haven't figured out what I am going to do with all of these points, but you might as well pick them up for free at KFR.

Double referral points from Mobee

For those of you who haven't tried Mobee yet, now's the time, because I can make big bucks by referring you! Okay, it's not big bucks but, if you use my referral link and complete a mission, I get double referral points. Whoo-hoo, double scoops of ice cream for everyone!

Even better, Mobee is worth having. What is Mobee, you ask? Mobee is a customer service feedback substitute. You pull up the app and it shows you "missions" in the area. Missions generally involve answering some yes/no questions about customer service in a particular store. For instance, it might tell you to go into a CVS and see if they have a certain product in stock. You'll have to check for the product, take a picture of the display and answer a few other questions. I've had missions that pay as much as $15 (and weren't that hard), but they seemed to have settled down in the $1-$5 range.

Just look up Mobee on your phone and I would appreciate it if you use my referral code when you sign up: BKLZ

Thanks!

Kellogg's Family Rewards: Some Points

You might want to try the following code, located somewhere on the internet, at KFR. I'm getting mixed feedback on whether it gives points or not.

My Mystery Video Arrived!

My mystery movie arrived and it was a volume of Mickey, Donald and Goofy videos. I also got a code inside the video for 75 points, so my net outlay was 275 points.

Okay, that was my excitement for the week.

Free Toothpaste at CVS

This is kind of nice. We all use toothpaste. I mean, I brush my teeth at least once a week. Well, CVS is giving you the good stuff for free.

You can check out their local circular, which offers $2 off the $3 price. Then, get the $1 coupon in your local paper or online and you're good to go. Enjoy your pearly whites.

I'll report back with what I got.

Coke (and, I guess, Pepsi) freebies

Want 30 points from My Coke Rewards? Download their Freestyle app and your wish will be granted. To the best of my knowledge, this is different from the offer a few weeks ago to add your card to your virtual wallet. Note that I did it this morning and my points have not hit my account yet.

I've always thought Pepsi was more creative than its competitor in red, but this contest is downright lame.

Seriously? Bowling? And it's not even a single free game. It's bogo (buy one get one). Sigh, I guess it's better than nothing. Find participating bowling lanes here.

My Coke Rewards: Sprite Contest

Here's a hint to MCR: If you are holding a contest, let us know that it is a contest and tell us what the prizes are. That's not so hard, is it?

So MCR is running some sort of contest involving Sprite. Apparently, you are supposed to take pictures of Sprite cans and upload them to your "collection." Once you get pictures of enough Pokemon Sprite cans, you will be entered to win something. I think it's a trip. But you should probably read the details on how to claim your Pikachu winnings.

Free Scholastic Book from Kellogg's (And Others) And Walmart

This is kind of cool. Buy certain Coke, Hershey's, Kellogg's or Smucker's products and get yourself a free book from scholastic. The Magic School Bus is one of them, and my kids are a big fan. Read all the details here.

Two other things:

First: Shout-out to Kellogg's for sending me a birthday link that delivered a 404 error. Stay classy.

Second: I'm on a conference call and the speaker just said that his company's tax structure is a little bit unique. I suppose that it would be tacky to pop on the call and point out that the word "unique" is binary; it either is or it isn't.

AMC Stubs Update

First, and possibly most importantly, Sunday is free popcorn day at AMC theaters. And they're going all out: You get a large! Very exciting stuff.

Second, they're updating their Stubs rewards program. I never liked a program where you had to pay to join, but the discounts were worth it. Now, there's a free version and a paid version. If you had been in the previous program, they'll automatically move you to the paid version of this one. Here's how the chart breaks out. The biggest benefits to the paid program are the waived ticketing fees, 10% rewards (versus 2% in the free program) and free popcorn/soda upgrades.

My Coke Rewards: 30 Points

Well, this is kind of cool: Get 30 points from MCR from adding your card to your virtual wallet. For the tech incompetents such as myself, the news is good. It walks you through the 30-second process.

Disney Movie Rewards: Five Points

Enter code "disneysnaps" at DMR for five points.

New Kellogg's Family Rewards rewards

And we're back!

Just got an email from KFR notifying me that there are new rewards available, which is nice, since I didn't care for any of the old rewards.

There are a whopping 11 of them. Hmm, not so much. Frequent flyers will be delighted to see that one of the prizes is a Delta Vacations gift card, a very reasonable reward, giving you $100 toward DV for 5,000 points. The downside is that you then need to book a Delta Vacations package.

Home Depot: Free Kids Workshop

I always mean to mention these and never get around to it but, if you have kids, both Home Depot and Lowe's run workshops to help the little critters learn to make things. This week is a cool Ice Age Bowling Game which, of course the kids get to keep. Oh, good, just what I need: more stuff.

You can read about Home Depot's extravaganza here.

Kellogg's Family Rewards: Shutterfly Code

Every once in a while, KFR throws out a Shutterfly code. this one will get you an 8X8 photo book. It says you should use it to relive your best summer memories but, since summer hasn't started yet, I'm guessing they'd be okay if you used it for something else.

No idea if it's one use only or good for everyone.

You'll still have to pay S&H, but it's a pretty good deal, regardless.

My Coke Rewards Updates

Apparently, MCR yas made some changes to the program. There doesn't look like anything dangerous in the changes, but I'll take a peek. I like the fact that they got rid of status.

Interesting that, of my six accounts, only one got the 15 point bonus. Coincidentally (or perhaps, not coincidentally), that account was the one with Gold status.

Kellogg's Family Rewards Possible 200 Points

Recyclebank: Learn about E-Waste for 265 Points and Mickey Mouse gets you 130

At first I thought that this was going to be something to do with spam and couldn't figure out how it was an environmental hazard. Turns out I was wrong. Here's 265 points to learn how to throw out your phone.

That darned Mickey, he sold out to the environmentalists. But that means you get 130 points here.

Checkout 51

One of the easier ways to make free money is with apps that pay you when you purchase certain grocery items. I'm not talking about Mr. Rebates and its ilk, although I like those, as well. Rather, I'm talking about the Checkout 51 and Ibottas of the world. I've discussed both in the past, namely here and here. Buy a product that is being advertised (My list for the week has 29 items, including Bounty products, Ritz crackers and Gain laundry detergent, among others.) and scan the receipt for cash back. Since there are multiple programs out there that offer the the same rebates, you can actually get paid back for buying food.

If you are not a member of Checkout 51 yet, I would really appreciate it if you used my referral link. I get something when you upload your first receipt. Thank you! Feel free to add your own links in the comments section.

KFR: 100 Points

Sorry 'bout that. I had just gotten back on the horse and then we went off to Minneapolis for the weekend.

Here's a hint: If you ever go to the Nickelodeon Theme Park in the Mall of America, bring a kid from 42" to 48". They still need to go with a grown-up at that height, so you can go for free with them.

Hint #2: If you ever eat at a Landry's Restaurant, be sure to join their loyalty club. It costs $25 to sign up, but you get a gift card for that amount. We discovered a big advantage, though. Club members get to skip to the front of the line if there is a wait, so we avoided a 45-minute wait at the Rainforest Cafe. You've never heard of "Landry's," but you've heard of their brands, which include Morton's, Claim Jumper and about a dozen others.

Fun Fact: Landry's founder Tillman Fertitta is cousins with the Fertitta brothers who started Station Casinos and the UFC.

Oh, sorry, KFR: BONUSCODE4UHTSFF

Kellogg's Family Rewards: 100 points

So it's been a while, but I'm going to be posting again. It will probably be limited to a few times per week (sort of a "points summary"), but if something is timely, I'll make sure to get it in right away. In the meantime, if there's something that strikes my fancy, I may also post it, even if it's not exactly within the "core mission" of free points.

Out of Office Notice

I'll be out for the next week or so. Updates will be few and far between.

I'm also going to spend some time thinking about the future of this site and what I want it to be. When I first started it, there were tons of free points to be found everywhere. Now, they have been pretty much limited to Pampers and KFR. Occasionally, other stuff will pop up, but there's only so many snarky comments I can make about the same programs.

I have no plans of monetizing the site (although I think that I have Google Adsense ads here). It doesn't sound like a lot of fun. If you want to help some disadvantaged kids, however, read the page called "Do Well by Doing Good" to the right.

Have a great week everyone!

Second, from now until 3/31, you'll get a punch in your virtual punch card every time you enter a code (or upload a receipt/use a loyalty card) from a participating product (looks like all of them). Ten punches gets you 1,000 points, a bonus that can be earned ten times.
